Placed in the South American country during World War II, “Mudbound” is an epic story of two families facing each other of a ruthless social hierarchy, yet linked together by the Mississippi Delta. The McAllan family is recently moved from the quiet civilization of Memphis and unprepared for the harsh demands of agriculture. In spite of Henry’s grandiose dreams, his wife, Laura, is struggling to maintain her husband’s confidence at the risk of losing. Meanwhile, Hap and Florence Jackson, who have been working the ground for generations, are courageously struggling to build a small dream on their own, despite rigorous social barriers. The war is overwhelming the plans of both families, while their close friends, Jamie McAllan and Ronsel Jackson, build a quick but difficult friendship that provokes the brutal realities of the region they live in.
